Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has praised the election of Florence Najjemba Musoke as President of the Rotary Club of Makindye, describing it as a strong endorsement of her leadership, integrity, and commitment to humanitarian service.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has described the installation of Florence Najjemba Musoke as the new President of the Rotary Club of Makindye as a clear reflection of the confidence and trust members have in her leadership, dedication, and commitment to service.

The message was delivered on behalf of the Katikkiro by the Second Deputy Katikkiro and Treasurer of the Buganda Kingdom, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, during Najjemba’s installation ceremony held at Kampala Club in Nakasero on Saturday.

Florence Najjemba Musoke was installed as the 38th President of the Rotary Club of Makindye, succeeding John Kugonza, who served as the club’s 37th President.

In the message read on his behalf, Mayiga said he had originally been invited by Florence Najjemba Musoke to officiate as guest of honour at the function but delegated Nsibirwa to represent him because he is currently out of the country on official kingdom duties.

“I congratulate Florence Najjemba Musoke upon her election as President of the Rotary Club of Makindye. Your election is a clear reflection of the confidence and trust that members have in your leadership, dedication, and commitment to service,” the message read.

Mayiga revealed that he and his wife have known Florence Najjemba Musoke since their days at Makerere University and noted that they also belong to the same long-standing social association, Club Maalum Ltd, which has existed for more than 30 years.

“Club Maalum brings together many people from different backgrounds, some of whom are here, I believe. I have no doubt, therefore, that Florence Najjemba has acquired valuable leadership and interpersonal skills that will greatly enable her to effectively manage and lead the Rotary Club of Makindye,” the message stated.

The Katikkiro further expressed confidence that under Najjemba’s leadership, the Rotary Club of Makindye would continue making meaningful contributions toward community development and humanitarian service.

“As you assume this responsibility, I encourage you to continue upholding the values of integrity, unity, and selfless service that Rotary stands for. May your tenure be marked with impactful initiatives that will uplift communities and inspire many others to serve humanity,” the message added.

Mayiga also thanked all individuals who have supported Florence Najjemba Musoke throughout her Rotary journey, saying their presence at the installation ceremony should inspire her to lead with purpose and confidence.

Speaking during the event, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa said Najjemba’s leadership comes at a historic moment for Africa, as the continent is set to have two representatives on the Board of Rotary International for the first time.

The representatives include Emmanuel Katongole from Uganda and Hakeem Babalola Olayinka from Nigeria.

Nsibirwa urged Najjemba to intensify efforts aimed at strengthening and elevating the Rotary Club of Makindye.

In her remarks, Florence Najjemba Musoke pledged to deliver impactful service during her tenure, with particular focus on promoting education and supporting school-going children through the provision of meals, clean drinking water, and other humanitarian services.

Outgoing President John Kugonza thanked members and supporters who stood with him during his leadership, noting that together they had managed to uphold and strengthen the image and reputation of the Rotary Club of Makindye.

The installation ceremony attracted Rotarians, kingdom officials, family members, and invited guests from different sectors of society.
